Just a quick post right now to say the the first theatrical trailer is finally online for Peter Jackson's, the Academy Award-Winning director of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, newest film, a big screen adaptation of the best-selling book by Alice Sebold, "The Lovely Bones." Penned by the award-winning screen-writing team of Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens, who were also involved with Jackson's trilogy, "The Lovely Bones" tells the story of a young girl who has been murdered and watches her family and her killer from the "in-between place", which is heaven. She is faced with the dilemma of giving into her desire for vengeance or for her family's healing. The film stars Mark Wahlberg (The Departed, Shooter), Rachel Weisz (The Mummy, The Brothers Bloom), along with Stanley Tucci (The Terminal, The Devil Wears Prada), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos, Life On Mars), and Saoirse Ronan (Atonement, City of Ember). "The Lovely Bones" is scheduled to hit theaters December 11, 2009.My impression of the trailer is that the film looks jaw-dropping, wonderfully creative, beautifully shot in that classic Jackson style, he loves to shoot large scale and this film appears to be no acception. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this movie, and it has actually been on hold for quite some time now, because there were disagreements between directors, studios, producers, etc. on what heaven should look like, and that has kept the film from the public and has built anticipation in me. The trailer has only intensified my interest and I will be awaiting December 11th with great anticipation. I only hope that the film won't hit any more delays. Hit the link below for the trailer:
